The Port of Sète-Sud de France has defined a strategic project for 2021-2025 based on a strong focus on sustainable development, with priority given to developing innovative and energy transition projects. The Marina is completing a period of development, renovation and implementation of new services for pleasure boaters, and is now planning to develop new connected services.
Winner at the end of 2019 of the European ‘PSAMIDES’ project, this program aims to support the sustainable growth and economic development of marinas, through the implementation of innovative solutions, particularly in the fields of tourist flow management, sustainable management of resources and equipment, and a service offering adapted to the new needs of blue growth professionals and port users. Various technological solutions have been selected to meet the challenges of the digital and ecological transition of marinas. They will be tested in the 4 partner ports, namely the port authorities of Sète-Sud de France (France), the Balearic Islands (Spain), the Generalitat de Catalunya (Spain) and Heraklion (Greece). The Port de Plaisance de Sète has chosen to integrate Falco’s innovative digital solution, based on Internet Of Things (IOT) technology developed by French research institute INRIA. Thanks to the installation of intelligent, connected sensors, combined with a user application, this solution will enable the port to offer new services to boaters, and improve environmental management and safety on the water. Deployment of the network and sensors was completed in November 2020. By equipping its entire main basin (484 berths) with this technology, the Sète Marina becomes Europe’s 1st connected port.
The Sète Marina has chosen its connected tool for the port of tomorrow
“Given the strategic importance of our project, we naturally decided to work with Wattson Elements (Falco solution), a dynamic start-up that relies on innovative and reliable technology”, explains Fabien Luais, Director of the Sète Marina. This connected tool will be the cornerstone of our port of the future, enabling us to improve our quality of service and develop new services to meet our customers’ expectations.
