The Management – « Port Sud de France »

Until the end of 2007 the port of Sète was part of the 23 French ports called "national interest" which was then owned by the state and managed by the Maritime Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI). With the law of 13 August 2004 on the decentralisation of these ports, the ownership of 17 of these ports has been transferred to local authorities. In Languedoc Roussillon the Port of Sète has become property of the Region.

These one decided, as of 1st January 2008 to manage itself directly through its own structure created to this end, the Establishment Regional Public Port Sud de France.

On 1st January 2011, the marina and the port areas which had remained under direct management of the Region have joined the scope managed by Port Sud de France.

The Regional Public Institution Port Sud de France has the status of Public Industrial and Commercial Establishment (EPIC). Its Board of Directors consists of 11 elected members, six regional representatives and 5 qualified individuals. Its President is Marc Chevallier.

Contractual relations between Port Sud de France and the Region are defined through a delegated convention for the operation of the port.

Port Sud de France has 86 employees divided between the commercial port, the fishing port, the marina and support services. Its managing director is Olivier Carmes.
